West Riding County Football Association Limited

REFEREE COLOURED SHIRTS

Following consultation with The Football Association and in line with other County FAs the West Riding County Football Association has given permission for referees to wear non-black shirts in competitions which the West Riding County Football Association organises and/or sanctions from season 2017-18 with the following guidelines to all match officials: -

  1.  Black remains the preferred colour.

  1. When officiating in any competition below step 7 with neutral assistant referees the default colour that match officials should use is YELLOW.  ALL officials must be in the same colour (YELLOW) otherwise they MUST revert back to wearing black attire. In exceptional circumstances where a clash still occurs or yellow shirts are not available other colours can be used.

  2. When officiating alone referees may use any coloured shirt providing it does not clash with either team or goalkeepers.

  3. In all matches when officiating alone, and where there is a clash of colours between the match Referee and the teams or goalkeepers, then the Referee MUST change and revert back to BLACK and NOT the teams

The West Riding County Football Association’s advice to ALL match officials is to ALWAYS take your black attire to matches if it is your intention to wear a coloured shirt.

NOTE:  It remains that teams under the jurisdiction of the West Riding County Football Association cannot wear black shirts

Good Luck and Congratulations

to Lucy and Georgia !!

Both will be attending the

Youth Sport Trust National Talent Camp 2016  from 16 to 19th Dec 2016

The National Talent Development Camp aims to support the most promising young coaches, athletes and officials, aged 14-19 years, bringing them together to participate in a unique multi-sport, multi-role, three dimensional camp, to increase individual aspiration, ambition and to develop empathy.  Though the camp, young people are stretched and challenged to be ambitious and achieve their sporting best.

This programme sees around 350 coaches, officials and athletes attend a 4 day residential camp which will take place from 16th – 19th December, 2016 at Loughborough University.  Sessions will focus on Managing Emotions, The Power of Sleep and individual ambitions.  Individuals across 10 different sports will be attending the camp, which will give you a unique opportunity to compare and share practices with ‘like-minded’ young people from other sports.  The other sports involved are:

British Cycling                                                                   Basketball England

Boccia England                                                                 British Wheelchair Basketball

Baseball Softball UK                                                        Tennis Foundation

BARA Remembers

BARA Mentor Scheme 2015/16

BARA officials were out in force over the Remembrance Day Weekend at North Yorkshire Centre of Excellence v Manchester United.

Before all the games took place the players, officials, coaches and spectators all joined together in an impeccable minute of silence to remember the fallen that have fought for our country.

Lest we forget.

Monday 19th of October saw the first meeting of the mentor scheme for the 2015/16 season. This meeting saw the mentors and mentees take part in the Yo-Yo test as a part of a fitness assessment. We shall be striving to improve on personal results throughout the season. This was followed by a session were the mentors got to speak to their mentees on a one to one basis and discuss their aims and objectives for the season. From these the mentee and mentor will be able to make an action plan for the season. These aims and objectives will then be reviewed throughout the season on a regular basis to ensure that the mentees achieve all points in their action plans.

BARA Joined by International referee for tournament

At this year Manchester International Supercup Barkston Ash officials were joined by Joscha Csuti a Gerrman referee. Joscha met BARA officials in Spain last year and this year he was invited to be a part of the team of officials in Manchester. Since returning home Joscha has completed a article to talk about his experiences at the tounament.

BARA team up with North Yorkshire Girls' Centre of Excellence

Barkston Ash officials will be again partnering up with the North Yorkshire Girls' Centre of Excellence to officiate on all of their games for the 2015/16 season. These games have already given our young and experienced referees the chance to develop themselves as referees and assistants over the past year and we are looking forward to doing the same again this year. The games are spread out across various age groups from U'11s to U'17s. The lower age groups are an ideal opportunity for young referees to learn their trade in a controlled environment and the older age groups provide the opportunity to referee in teams of three. These games are often observed by other referees from within the district acting as coaches and this provides useful feedback for all officials taking part.

If you are interested in officiating in any of the game then please contact - Andy McEvoy

Good luck to the BARA officials travelling out to Dubai International Supercup.

BARA member officiates International Blind Football Match

BARA's very own Mark Heap has had an interesting couple of months and it was his turn this month to have an article written about here on the West Riding CFA website. Here is a short extract of the article.

'West Riding referee Mark Heap recently officiated the International Blind Football Match on Friday 20th Feb in Hereford.

Mark, who qualified as a referee almost 20 years ago, has overseen a number of games in our County, yet his most recent appointment was to the International Blind Match between England and Japan on 20th February in Hereford. The game, which finished 2-0 to England was Mark’s 9th full international match appointment in the last 12 months.'
